It is a great honor for the Department of Agriculture of Hellenic Mediterranean University School of Agricultural Sciences which in about a year will welcome, in collaboration with the Entomological Society of Greece, entomologists from all over the world at the 12th European Congress of Entomology – XII European Congress of Entomology – ECE 2023 that will be held for the first time in Heraklion Crete, 16-20 October 2023, at the premises of the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion.

The Conference is expected to bring together over 500 scientists from around the world, as it is a unique opportunity to exchange information and research results on a wide range of topics. The audience will consist of researchers and academics related to entomology, as well as policy makers, field agronomists, plant protection experts, physicians, engineers, social scientists and artists. The scientific program will include lectures by international experts, symposia, live and online presentations and seminars. The conference will be the ideal meeting place for networking that ideally will lead to pioneering innovations in entomology.

According to the conference’s website, the insect population internationally is currently facing ever-growing problems related to climate change, biodiversity loss and the need to feed the ever-growing human population through over-intensive crops.

The conference will be chaired by Professor Emmanuel Roditakis, President of the Department of Agriculture of the School of Agricultural Sciences of the Hellenic Mediterranean University and Researcher Stefanos Andreadis of ELGO -DIMITRA.

The School of Agricultural Sciences of the HMU, to which the Department of Agriculture belongs, is the only University Agricultural School (5 years of study) in the Region of Crete. Its presence in the field of Agronomy Science, agri-food as well as food science and technology is long and dynamic in an international level.
