Sludge2Energy meets in Crete!

🌿 Sludge2Energy meets in Crete!

The partners of the Sludge2Energy Project, including the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) – Prof. Thrassyvoulos Manios’ research team, gathered in Rethymno, Crete, for the 2nd Project Meeting, held on 15–16 September 2026 at the Cultural House of the City of Rethymno.

All project partners were present, demonstrating the strong commitment of the consortium towards our common goal: transforming sewage sludge from a waste management challenge into a valuable resource through pyrolysis, biochar valorisation, and circular economy solutions across the Mediterranean.

📌 Two days were dedicated to reviewing and evaluating the technical progress of the different Work Packages (WPs), coordinating the next steps of the project’s pilot and demonstration activities, and planning communication and dissemination actions to share the project’s results with stakeholders across the Mediterranean region.

💬 Meeting in person makes the difference: six countries, one table, one common goal.
